What I Learned From Bible Software

For many years I read the Bible daily. Most mornings I would start by reading a Psalm. After years and years of Bible study I found myself left with too many questions. Through a series of events and encounters I was motivated to create a scroll by following reference verses. I made a few different scrolls, most of them only lasted for ten to twenty verses before there were no more references to follow. The longest one was from a verse in 1 Corinthians 13, until the ONE!

Is Bible Study Software Too Technical?

Some people may think that Bible study software makes studying the Bible too technical. There was a time that I might have agreed. One you evaluate the information that the software can show you in a matter of seconds you might change your mind as well.

In many cases the words that appear in the Bible may have up to thirty of forty different word numbers in the Greek or Hebrew Lexicons. As you see words that were translated twenty different ways with totally diverse meanings you realize that there is something more to the story. When you see words with all of these different meanings and the words was also translated miscellaneously 250 times you may be scratching your head.

What Does Bible Study Software Do?

New Bible study software can dramatically alter the way you interpret different scripture meanings. Let's face it, the Bible is a mystery. It is a mystery at the beginning and a mystery at the end. For those that really want to discover the true meanings of a verse the software can be a great tool.

What will you find using software that you can't find just reading the book? A lot of things! Here are just a few.

 

  • The actual word or words that appear in a Bible verse along with the Strong's Lexicon word number(s).
  • How many times that word appears in scriptures, the language of origin (if known), the word numbers, and how the word was translated and how many times.
