"Man Of God" in The Bible - Who is the "Man of God"?

The term 'Man of God' is in the Bible 156 times. Some of the most prominent people in the Old Testament were referred to as the Man of God. Who are they? The first time that the title was used (chronologically) was in Deuteronomy and it was the title given to Moses.

The man of God title was also commonly used for the Prophet Elijah (Elijah means 'my God is Jehovah' or 'Yah (U) is God'). His name is a combination of the Hebrew word #410 EL (God) and #3050 YAH which is 'LORD' and "JAH'.

The title of name of God was also used when referring to Elisha, Elijah's protege. The name Elisha is word #477 in Hebrew and it means 'God is Salvation'. The root of this name also goes to #410 EL, God.

The term man of God was also used several times referring to the Prophet Samuel. The name Samuel is word #8050 and means "His name is EL'. This complimentary title was also used numerous times referring to King David. The name 'David' is word #1732 and means 'beloved'. Oddly enough, one of the associated word numbers is #410 EL, God (perhaps a relative).

The term man of God was only used twice in the New Testament. Both times were in Timothy 1 and 2. The name Timothy is word #5095 in Greek and means "honoring God'.

Now, as for the term Man of God; in the Old Testament it was the same two word numbers used in every instance. The two word number are #376 and #430 Elohiym, God (plural of #433 Elowahh, God) and from the root #410 EL, God).

Word #376 is from a root meaning to be extant - (in existence, still existing, not lost or destroyed). Word number #376 appears in scriptures 1639 times. The word is associated with words #408 and #409 AL (Aramaic) and akin to the word #3808 LO, #440 Eloniy from the word #438 and #437 ALLON meaning Great Tree or Oak and directly connected to the name Eliyshah (God on the coming One) and Eliyshuwa (God is salvation). As a footnote - Word #437 and #438 both ALLON are from the #427 ALLAH also meaning 'Oak'.

If this all seems a bit complicated it is because it is. There is much more to the story than we know. I would much rather know that I don't know than to think that I know and be wrong.

God is good, and at times it's hard to understand and remember that.
