A "New Thing" from the Old Testament | Book of Isaiah 43,19
January 29, 2010 0 CommentsSo what is the new thing this verse is referring to? If you read the verse following that follows the verse below it is talking somewhat about places but it is really addressing certain people. From the tone of the verses that follow IS 43,19 it seems that the LORD is trying to reassure people that feel as though they were abandoned that they will be renewed and restored. By the example set forth in the verse it appears that it will take place in a new and unprecedented way that is unusual, and quite possibly miraculous. Here is the verse from the King James Bible Version.
Isaiah 43,19
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
The word for "new" used here is word number 2319 in the Lexicon. It was translated as new 48 times, new thing 4 times and fresh 1 time.
If you read the following verses they are riddled with key words and messages. You may even find a donkey by a name you recognize! The word number could even match the persons birthday or home address! Sounds crazy doesn't it? It's TRUE!
The following verses are trying to reassure a people who feel betrayed by the LORD that all will turn out well. This is a common theme throughout the whole book... Will it all turn out OK? God knows! If He didn't He couldn't have sent messages thousands of years in advance with the peoples names and addresses, relatives and everything else. How did He know thousands of years ahead of time what your name would be?
There are many out there who are just like the Jacob and Israel the LORD is addressing in these verses; you are weary. Maybe even to the point of not even caring any more; not wanting to believe anymore Bible verses or hear any more promises. I understand.
If the Bible didn't exist... God does! If the Bible said that you would be destroyed (by name) will that happen? Maybe for a season, but God prevails! God is good and all will turn out OK. We are not designed to have faith in a book, we are designed to have faith in the Supreme God who is above ALL.
Do something good for someone else today and don't let anyone know you did it. God does that too! If you are weary from the battles you aren't alone. Something new is coming and some of the weary and wounded will rejoice when it comes. Conversely, some of those who set out to destroy may not be rejoicing.
